Tell the Story
A) Our Story – Why did God call Kerygma International to Senegal?
Kerygma International Ministries believes that God’s call to Senegal was born out of His sovereign purpose and confirmed through His divine guidance. God has called Kerygma International Ministries to Senegal because He loves the people of Senegal and desires that every person has the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe He is raising faithful laborers to strengthen His Church, equip leaders, disciple believers, and proclaim the message of salvation with love, humility, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Our mission is not simply to establish programs but to build lasting relationships, develop indigenous Christian leaders, strengthen local churches, and encourage a disciple-making movement that will continue for generations. We desire to serve alongside the Body of Christ already present in Senegal, empowering local believers to fulfill God’s purpose for their own nation.
The name Kerygma means the proclamation of the Gospel. Our calling in Senegal is therefore to faithfully proclaim Christ, make disciples, train leaders, and see lives transformed through the truth of God’s Word, so that the Kingdom of God may advance throughout the nation and beyond.
Our prayer is that Senegal will become a nation where the light of Christ shines brightly, churches flourish in biblical truth, leaders are equipped for faithful ministry, and future generations come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all peoples. — Psalm 96:3
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! — Romans 10:15
B) What burden did He place on your heart?
As we sought the Lord concerning His purpose for Senegal, He placed a deep and growing burden upon our hearts—not simply to visit the nation, but to faithfully participate in His mission of making Christ known.
The Lord burdened us with a passion to see the Gospel proclaimed where it is least heard, believers rooted in the truth of God’s Word, and local churches strengthened to fulfill their God-given calling. This burden has continued to grow through prayer, His Word, and every opportunity He has given us to serve the people of Senegal.
During our time in the country, we witnessed both the spiritual hunger and the immense opportunities for the Kingdom of God. We met faithful pastors and church leaders who desired sound biblical teaching, leadership development, and encouragement. We also recognized the need for intentional discipleship that equips believers to mature in Christ and become disciple-makers within their own communities.
God impressed upon our hearts that lasting transformation comes through raising up indigenous leaders who are firmly grounded in Scripture and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Rather than building dependence on outside ministries, our desire is to partner with the local Church, equipping and encouraging leaders so that the Gospel continues to spread through Senegal by Senegalese believers.
The burden God has given us is therefore fourfold:
To proclaim Jesus Christ with clarity, love, and faithfulness.
To make disciples who grow in spiritual maturity and obedience to God’s Word.
To equip pastors and Christian leaders through biblical teaching, leadership training, and ongoing encouragement.
To strengthen local churches so they can effectively reach their own communities and future generations with the Gospel.
Above all, our burden is to see the people of Senegal encounter the saving grace of Jesus Christ, experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, and become a vibrant witness to the glory of God among the nations.
We believe this calling is not about building our own ministry, but about serving God’s Kingdom by partnering with the Church in Senegal. Our prayer is that every effort will bring glory to Christ and contribute to the fulfillment of His Great Commission.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” — Matthew 9:37–38
For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. — 2 Corinthians 4:5
C) How did the ministry begin?
In January 2016, the Lord gave me a clear and unmistakable vision. In the vision, I heard someone say, “Go to Senegal.” I then saw myself walking out of an airport, where someone approached me and placed money into my hands. I understood this as the Lord’s assurance that He would provide for the mission He was calling me to undertake.
Following this vision, I spent much time waiting in God’s presence, seeking His direction and praying for His perfect timing. Rather than moving ahead on my own, I chose to remain at the feet of the Lord until He clearly opened the way.
In His faithfulness, God sovereignly connected us with Bishop Louis of Senegal through Pastor Samkutty George. This divine connection became the beginning of what the Lord had already prepared.
During the three years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lord opened another unexpected door. Through Zoom, I had the privilege of teaching Bible classes to a Bible college affiliated with the Church of God in Senegal. Although we were separated by distance, God was preparing hearts, strengthening relationships, and laying a spiritual foundation for the work ahead.
As a family, we continued to pray earnestly for Senegal, carrying an increasing burden for the nation.
This growing conviction eventually led us to travel to Senegal, where we spent time visiting different regions, meeting pastors and believers, observing the spiritual condition of the country, and seeking the Lord’s heart for the nation.
Our journey confirmed what God had already placed within our hearts: Senegal is a nation with tremendous spiritual need, yet it is also a land filled with extraordinary opportunities for the Gospel. We witnessed communities with little access to biblical teaching, leaders longing for discipleship, and an urgent need for churches to be strengthened and equipped.
Today, we remain convinced that God is calling us to participate in His redemptive work in Senegal through evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, biblical training, and church strengthening. Our prayer is to see lives transformed by the power of the Gospel, believers established in the Word of God, and healthy churches raised up that will impact the nation and future generations for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the earth your possession. — Psalm 2:8
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… — Matthew 28:19–20
D) What vision does God have for the future?
We believe that God’s vision for the future of Kerygma International Ministries in Senegal is far greater than establishing a ministry presence. His desire is to see a thriving, Christ-centered movement that transforms lives, families, churches, and communities through the power of the Gospel.
Our vision is to see Senegal reached with the message of Jesus Christ through faithful evangelism, intentional discipleship, biblical leadership development, and healthy local churches that become centers of spiritual transformation.
We believe God is raising up a new generation of men and women who will boldly proclaim Christ within their own communities and beyond.
As we continue to serve in partnership with the Church in Senegal, we envision:
- A Gospel movement where people from every background have the opportunity to hear and respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
- Strong disciples who are firmly rooted in Scripture, filled with the Holy Spirit, and equipped to make disciples of others.
- Equipped Christian leaders who faithfully shepherd God’s people, teach sound doctrine, and model Christlike character.
- Healthy and multiplying churches that are biblically grounded, mission-focused, and actively engaged in reaching their communities.
- The next generation empowered through children’s, youth, and young adult ministries that prepare them to become godly leaders and faithful witnesses.
- A culture of prayer and revival where believers seek God’s presence, walk in holiness, and depend on the Holy Spirit for every aspect of ministry.
- A missionary vision in which the Church in Senegal not only receives the Gospel but also sends missionaries and church planters to unreached peoples throughout West Africa and beyond.
Our ultimate vision is to see Christ glorified in Senegal as lives are transformed, leaders are raised up, churches are strengthened, and the Kingdom of God advances from generation to generation. We believe that what God has begun, He will faithfully complete according to His perfect will and timing.
This vision is founded on the words of Jesus:
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. — Matthew 28:19–20
And on the promise given in Scripture:
The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. — Habakkuk 2:14
With humility and complete dependence on the Lord, Kerygma International Ministries commits itself to proclaiming Christ, equipping His Church, and serving the people of Senegal until every possible opportunity has been taken to make Jesus known. We trust that the work begun in Senegal will, by God’s grace, become a lasting testimony to His faithfulness and a blessing to the nations.
