Gospel Message

Jesus — Do Not Worry

Jesus — Do Not Worry About Tomorrow

Matthew 6:34
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Today’s grace is sufficient for today’s need. God does not ask us to carry tomorrow’s burdens with today’s strength.

David — Trust God When Fear Comes

Psalm 56:3
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

Fear may come, but fear does not have to rule us. We can consciously turn our hearts toward God and choose to trust Him.

Jeremiah — God’s Mercies Are New Every Morning

Lamentations 3:22–23
“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Every new morning brings fresh mercy. Yesterday’s failures and tomorrow’s uncertainties do not exhaust the faithfulness of God.

Paul — Take Every Thought Captive

2 Corinthians 10:5
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

Anxious thoughts should not be allowed to rule the mind unchecked. We examine them in the light of God’s Word and bring them under the authority of Christ.

A Simple Biblical Response to Anxiety

When anxiety comes:

Pray instead of panic.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

Trust instead of imagining the worst.
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” — Psalm 56:3

Remember God’s provision.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19

Take anxious thoughts captive.
“…bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 10:5

Receive today’s grace for today’s need.
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow…” — Matthew 6:34

I added Hebrews 12:28 under “Global Turmoil” because it beautifully supports the thought of anchoring our hope in the coming, unshakable Kingdom of God.
